EVOSS - IDEA Award

EVOSS Recognized with an International Design Excellence Award – IDEA

The design of Tevosol's EVOSS - Ex-Vivo Organ Support System was recognized with a Silver Industrial Designers Society of America, International Design Excellence Award (IDEA). Since its inception in 1980, the IDEA program has recognized exceptional industrial design and represents one of the most coveted and prestigious design industry awards. We’d like to thank the IDEA jury for recognizing our efforts and the dedicated team at Tevosol for providing the support and context to pursue design excellence.

Formation worked with Tevosol's surgeons, engineers, and company leadership to develop the EVOSS device. EVOSS is a medical device created to facilitate the transplant of human lungs. It provides preservation, rehabilitation, monitoring, and transport for donated human lungs. EVOSS is the first device of its kind to provide conditions like that of a human body for lungs during transport. With EVOSS, donated human lungs remain warm, alive, and breathing, in conditions that closely replicate that of a healthy human body. Donated organs are the ultimate gift, the EVOSS system seeks to honor this gift by maximizing the potential for successful human transplants. The EVOSS system has the potential to make more and higher quality donor lungs available for transplant.

About The International Design Excellence Awards

The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) are organized annually by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Each year, thousands of entries are submitted by designers across the globe in hopes of securing a highly prized IDEA recognition. The competition is open to professional designers (corporate in-house teams, brands, studios, independent consultants, and entrepreneurs) and students.

2023 marks the 43rd anniversary of IDEA, making it one of the longest running and most prestigious design awards programs in existence. Originally founded to recognize exceptional achievement in industrial design, the program has since grown to highlight design in many connected disciplines, including design strategy, branding, digital interaction, environments, social impact, and much more. Winning an IDEA is a career defining moment and puts your design on a global platform, gaining it industry recognition alongside some of the most lauded products of all time. Past IDEA winners are some of the most successful and significant products ever created. They change people’s lives, create new industries, and ignite imaginations.
