It is estimated that between 600,000 - 800,000 needle stick injuries occur annually. Each year 18,000 health care workers are infected with Hepatitis, HIV and other blood-borne diseases. The Safe-Vent arterial syringe venting system was created to address this problem.
Safe-Vent syringes reduce the technician’s risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens by allowing them to safely vent gas bubbles from an arterial blood sample. In addition to providing a safer procedure, the Safe-Vent captures the needle in fewer steps than current systems. Only one hand is needed to engage the needle safety device and vent the sample. Today’s leading systems require two-handed operation. Because it reduces the sample’s exposure to ambient air, Safe-Vent also contributes to more accurate diagnoses.
The Safe-Vent and Safe-Vent Integral were recognized with multiple IDEA Awards in 2006 and 2007.
